Cape The city – Hashim Amla has won a significant nationwide award, the Order of Ikhamanga, for his contribution to South African recreation.
The award seeks to recognize South Africans who’ve succeeded within the fields of arts, tradition, literature, song, journalism and recreation.
Amla is the primary cricketer to win the award in 10 years since Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini, who have been each honoured in 2008.
Amla used to be named as a silver award recipient via the Chancellor of Nationwide Orders, Dr Cassius Lubisi.
Cricinfo quoted Lubisi as honouring Amla “for his contribution to the game of cricket. He has introduced delight to our nation along with his many batting firsts within the world cricket enviornment and stays one of the crucial main batsmen of our time.”
A former Check captain of the Proteas, Amla stays the one South African to have ever scored a triple century in Check cricket.
Now 35, he has 117 Check caps, 164 ODIs and 43 T20Is to his identify.
